KALONA ? Louise A. Brenneman, 92, of Kalona, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a sudden illness.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, at East Union Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa Mennonite School.
Mrs. Brenneman was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Shickley, Neb., the daughter of A.E. and Emily (Beller) Miller. She married Floyd Brenneman in 1947.
In 1936 she moved with her family to Iowa, where she graduated from Kalona High School. She then worked at Reifs Department Store for eight years. After her marriage, she was her husband?s full-fledged farm partner, driving the tractor, putting up hay in the barn and carrying feed to the livestock. She was a hard worker and was known by family and friends for her sense of humor and quick wit. She was a member of East Union Mennonite Church.
Surviving are two children, Kathy Walter of Tipton, and Kristen Brenneman and husband Michael of Kalona; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Miller of Kalona.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Austin, and Harold; and one sister, Dorothy Mishler.
