Louise M. Peiffer
Louise M. Peiffer, 58, of rural Keota died Monday, May 8, 2000, from injuries suffered in a car-tractor accident northeast of Keota.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 12, at the Wellman Mennonite Church with the Rev. Don Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) research in dedication to her brother, who has ALS.
Mrs. Peiffer was born March 28, 1942, in Olds, the daughter of Ralph and Irene Imhof Reschly. She married Dan Nisly on Dec. 31, 1961, in Wayland. She married Gary Peiffer on Sept. 19, 1991 in Lake Tahoe, Nev. She attended school in Wayland and graduated from Winfield High School in 1960. She spent one year with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Hannibal, Mo. She lived in Salem, Ore. and Hutchinson, Kan. for 10 years and moved to the Wellman area in 1983. She worked at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona in the Alzheimer's unit and was director of the Wellman Senior Center. Most recently, she and her husband owned and operated Courtyard Square in Kalona for the past 5 years. She was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church and the Local OAO Club.
Survivors include her parents of Mt. Union; her husband; one son, Keith Nisly of Kalona; one daughter, Cindy Nisly of Santa Anna, Calif.; a stepson, Russell Peiffer of Gurnee, Ill.; five stepdaughters, Janet Deehring of Burlington, Cindy Peiffer of Phoenix, Ariz., Shelli Hahn of Ainsworth, Debbie Roush of Washington and Pam Kiefer of Brighton; two brothers, Denny Reschly of Mt. Pleasant and Gary Reschly of McMinnville, Ore.; two sisters, Joanne Gibson of Mississippi and Rosi Krogmeier of Mt. Pleasant; and ten step-grandchildren.
