Lowell Derby Smith, 90, of Ankeny, formerly of Agency, died December 4, 2022.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Clark Smith and Jennifer Geer Rhoads of Clive; three granddaughters, Darby (Marty) Kyler and Brigid Smith of St. Louis, MO, Greta Rhoads of Columbia, MO; a brother, Marlin (Mary) Smith of Fairfield; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children in infancy, Marsha and Bruce Smith; daughter-in-law, Lauren Kernan Smith; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Winifred (Joyce) Smith, Wayne Smith and Howard (Shirley) Smith; and two sisters, Betty Smith Brittan Reed and Rosemary Smith Hall Watson.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. The service will be livestreamed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. The family will be present one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the services.

Memorials may be made to the Ankeny or Fairfield First United Methodist Church, Iowa 4-H Foundation, Lions International, American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
