Loyd Keith Reighard, age 82, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 8th, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Widdel and Pastor Sam Schield officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday morning. Interment will take place at a later date at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton, Iowa. Keith was born on June 10, 1941, in Brighton, Iowa, the son of Lloyd E. and Charlene (Brolliar) Reighard. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a dedicated resident of Brighton most of his life. He had a compassionate soul, sharing his love for the outdoors. With his character and dedication he made a significant impact on the people around him, leading to a well-loved husband and dad. Keith was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family. He worked for Falco in Fairfield, Iowa; and drove truck for Reif Feed and Grain for 16 years. Keith later worked at DeLong Construction for seven years until his retirement. His funny nature and genuine warmth made him a cherished presence at all family gatherings. Above all, the most important thing to Keith was his family, whom he loved deeply.
Keith was the beloved husband to his wife Ruth whom he married on December 6, 1959. Their love story is one filled with dedication and compassion that will forever continue to inspire his family.
Keith is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Reighard of Washington; daughter, Connie (Chris) Cruz of Ottumwa, Iowa; daughter, Kathy (Ed) Verrips of Wayland, Iowa; son, Paul (Cher) Reighard of Washington, Iowa; grandchildren: Meadow, Megan and husband Derek, Kase and wife Jamie, Chapin and wife Jamie, Mariah and husband Zach, Ty and wife Audreyanna, Madison and husband Adam, McKenna and husband Brett, Ryan, Ashley, Kirsten and Coty. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren: Phoenix, Ahvien, Regan, Ike, Kagan, Nikolai, Maddox, Carly, Zoey, Rey, Tregyn, Teagyn, Trypp, Payton, Aislynn, Kaisen and Archer; as well as one sister, Donna (Gary) Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Karen, Linda and Rhoda.
