KEOTA ? Luella Elizabeth Davis, 96, of Keota, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at her son?s home in Keota.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, at Keota Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m., Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Davis was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Deer Creek Township, Tazewell County, Ill., the daughter of Karl and Freda (Knapp) Lay. She married Donald Davis on March 12, 1961, in Kahoka, Mo.
She received her education in country school. She moved to Donnellson with her family. After her marriage, she and her husband lived in Keota, where she cleaned the post office for many years. She also mowed lawns and took in laundry for several people. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, and her grandchildren.
Surviving are one son, Larry Davis and wife Kathy of Keota; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, in 1983; one grandson; two brothers, Clifford, and Roy Lay; and four sisters, Alice Lay, Florence Lay, Anna McVay, and Clara Ross.
