KALONA ? Luella Fern Yoder, 94, of Kalona, died Friday, April 14, 2017, in Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will follow at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund is established for the Kalona United Methodist Women or Iowa City Hospice.
Mrs. Yoder was born July 22, 1922, in rural Johnson County, the daughter of Eli and Esther (Brenneman) Yoder. She married Monroe D. Yoder on Feb. 14, 1943, at the East Union Mennonite Church.
She was a homemaker and was a cook for the Mid-Prairie School District for over 30 years. She was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, baking, cooking, quilting and crocheting. She served as a 4-H leader for many years.
Surviving are five children, Karen Miller and husband Charles of Iowa City, Beverly Bauer and husband William of North Oaks, Minnesota, Boni Yoder and special friends Lynn Brown and Gwen Wiegmann of Riverside, Jim M. Yoder of Kalona, and Cherie Miller and husband Nathan of Kalona; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe, in 1980; one infant granddaughter; seven brothers, Ivan, Lyle, Marvin, Wilbur, Calvin, Duane, and Raymond Yoder; and two sisters, Eva Brenneman, and Verna Gingerich.
