A Celebration of Life for Lynn E. Merck, 69, of Kalona, will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14 from 2 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice, Kalona United Methodist Church and Pleasantview Home. Lynn Merck died Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

Lynn Eugene Merck was born June 13, 1949 in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Ellen (Rank) Merck. Lynn served in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1971 - 1978. On November 30, 1985 he was united in marriage to Donna Yoder at the Kalona United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Donna of Kalona, three children: Jeannie (Christian) Zulauf of Ottumwa, Michelle Merck of Des Moines, Ryan (Kate) Merck of Wellman, his grandson Trevin, his mother Ellen Merck of Grinnell, two sisters: Becky Schlesselman of Grinnell, Jo (Steve) Wiley of New Sharon, a foster brother Dwaine Gooding of Burlington.
