Mabel Anne Atwood Rogers

      CARBONDALE, Ill. - Mabel Anne Atwood Rogers, 72, of rural Murphysboro, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, near Effingham, Ill., as a result of an automobile accident, which also killed her husband, Gene.

      Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, at First United Methodist Church in Carbondale, Ill., with the Rev. John R. Annable officiating. Visitation will be this evening, at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings, S.D. Memorials may be directed at the donor's choosing. Huffman-Harker Funeral Home In Carbondale, Ill., is handling the arrangements.

      Mrs. Rogers was born July 3, 1932, in Brookings, S.D., to Willard and ArrahWanna Uniqua (Packer) Hammond. She married Gene Rogers in 1992.
