Mabel Hertig

Mrs. Mabel Hertig, 79, of Wayland, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at the Parkview Home of Wayland.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Roger Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland. There will be no family visitation. Memorials may be made to the Parkview Home of Wayland.

      Mrs. Hertig was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Wayland, the daughter of Johnnie V. and Hazel Manning Kauffman. She married Dillon Hertig on April 13, 1941, at the Wayland Mennonite Church. She drove trucks for her husband and enjoyed canning, cake decorating and cooking.

      Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Betty Lou and Gerry Miles of Wayland; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
