Marjory Ann Chaney, 85,
of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Pearl Valley Care Center in Washington.
Marjory was born on November 14, 1935, in Fort Madison, Iowa the daughter
of Frank and Sadie Kempker. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1953. In her earlier years, she was employed at Bushong's Jeweler along with Schaeffer Pen both of Fort Madison, Iowa. Marge was united in marriage to Edward Chaney on July 12, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Madison, and they made their home in Mt. Pleasant.
Marge worked in the family construction and auctioneering businesses, was a homemaker, and was a mother extraordinaire. She enjoyed antiquing, sewing and cooking, but her passions were her family and her strong faith. Marge was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Marge is survived by her husband, Ed of Mt. Pleasant; her four daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Sheets of Urbandale, Iowa, Ann (Mike) Fisher of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Amy (Kendall) Rathje of Perry, Iowa, and Jill (Charlie) Parsons of Glenwood, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carol (Doug) Allison of Hilo, Hawaii, and Jane Carr of West Point, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Kempker; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Carr.
Friends may call on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Her family will not be present. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at the St. Alphonus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Father Paul Connolly officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials in Marge's memory may be directed to Hospice of Washington County in her memory.
Marge's family would like to thank everyone for all of their love and support during this time. It has been very much appreciated.
