Marcena Kline, age 91, of Brooklyn, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Father Scott Foley officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation for Marcena will be held from 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with a rosary and prayers recited at 8:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marcena is survived by her children Mike (Kim) Kline, Tom Kline, Susan (Erik) Winberg, Catherine McConnell, Linda (Tom) Law, Dolores (David) McClenathan and Ed (Diana) Kline; 37 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and three on the way. Also surviving Marcena are a daughter-in-law, Sandy Kline, and a son-in-law, Robert Parker.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Kline, her parents; her children Joe Kline, John Kline, Jane Kline, and Barbara Parker; a great-granddaughter, Danae Kline; and her siblings Joseph Zeller, Hilary Zeller, Donald Zeller, James Zeller, and Ralph Zeller.
Marcena Zeller was born January 8, 1932, in Fergus Falls, MN., the daughter of Joseph and Marie Quigley Zeller. Marcena was united in marriage to William Kline on September 25, 1950, in Rolling Stone, MN. After moving to Brooklyn, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a faithful Catholic and her faith brought her comfort and hope throughout her life. She received her GED and worked as a Certified Nursing assistant. Marcena was a member of Madison Homemakers and a neighborhood card club. She was an avid card player and reader. She loved gardening, traveling, and an evening at Meskwaki Casino. She was in touch with nature, birdwatching, and loved trees. Marcena loved her family dearly, making sure every grand-, great-, and great-great -grandchild got their $1.00 in their yearly birthday cards. She will be missed by many.
