Marcia Potsander

WELLMAN ? Marcia Louise Potsander, 93, of West Chester, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at her home.

Celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with the Rev. Moody Colorado officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.

Mrs. Potsander was born Feb. 1, 1923, in rural Wellman, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Peet) Henn. She married Daryl Potsander on Aug. 18, 1945, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman.

She graduated from Wellman High School in 1940 and attended Washington Junior College. She taught rural country school for four years. She and her husband made their home in the Wellman community until moving to West Chester in 1993. She worked as the assistant librarian at the Wellman-Scofield Public Library for 19 years, and then she worked in the kitchen at Parkview Manor for nine years. She was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed reading, her flower garden, family, being a Girl Scout leader, and teaching Sunday school, and she loved dogs and horses.

Surviving are four children, Dee Potsander and wife Patty of Davenport, Linda Potsander of West Chester, Dennis Potsander and wife Lynn of Fort Madison, and Kay Kirby and husband Dana of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Miller and husband Howard of Glendale, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, in 1998.
