Margaret Jane 'Janie' Stein

Margaret Jane "Janie" Stein, 90, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kan.

      A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadelupe. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the cathedral, with the Rev. Ted A. Skalsky presiding. A committal service will be at 3 p.m. in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Ashland, Kan. The body has been cremated.

      Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City. Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church.

      Memorials to Manor of the Plains or Hospice of the Prairie or food items for Manna House may be sent in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City 67801.

      Mrs. Stein was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Thayer, Kan., the daughter of Samuel Fell and Mary Anastasia O'Donnell Jones. She married Cletus G. Stein Oct. 12, 1937, in Parsons, Kan. He died June 10, 1960.

      Mrs. Stein was a resident of Dodge City since 2004. She had previously lived in Ashland for 50 years, as well as in Fairfield and Great Bend, Kan.
