Margaret "Mag" Orms, 89, Fairfield, formerly of Pleasant Plain, died Friday, July 30, 2021, in Fairfield. She was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Fairfield, to Bert and Sadie Myrtle Coop Avery.

Mag grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School. She married Duane "Doc" Orms on March 21, 1956. He died July 8, 2011. She was a housewife, worked at J.C. Penney, Louden Manufacturing Co., the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, ran a Mini Storage, and loved to Flea Market.

She is survived by her children, Tierney Hanshaw of Pleasant Plain, Kevin Orms of Fairfield and Phyllis Adrian (Terry) of Fairfield; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mag was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steve Orms; five sisters, Cecile Morrow, Jean Avery, Edna Carroll, Fern Dickinson and Helen Pool; and four brothers, Silbert, Merle, Gerald and Homer Avery.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Brighton Community Church with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery, north of Fairfield. Visitation will be held immediately preceding the funeral beginning at 1 p.m. A general memorial has been established and may be left at the church or mailed to 602 S. Fifth St., Fairfield, IA 52556. Gould Funeral Home Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
