Margaret Kay Stangohr,
69, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at the United Presbyterian Home
in Washington following a sudden heart attack. Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, Iowa, with Pastor Maureen Howard officiating. General calling hours will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Wartburg College or the American Heart Association. Margaret Kay was born Oct. 20, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Elsie (Keepf) Stangohr. She attended school in Charles City, Iowa, graduating from high school in 1970. Margaret graduated from Wartburg College in 1974 and taught for a few years in Dennison, Iowa. She later received her master's degree in library science from the University of Iowa. Margaret was a librarian at Eastern Carolina University for several years and later worked as the reference librarian at Buena Vista University from 1996 until 2014. In 2017, she moved to the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.
Margaret was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, where she was active on the Congregational Council and was active in Women's Bible Study. She was a member of Chapter MX of P.E.O. and was a member of the Martha Washington Questers.
Margaret is survived by several cousins; and close friends, Randy and Jane Fehr of Washington, Iowa; and Byron and Pam Lessin of Charles City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
