WEST LIBERTY ? Margaret F. Richey Thomason, 98, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A general memorial fund has been established.
Mrs. Thomason was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Cedar County, the daughter of Clifford and Bessie (Smith) Schooley. She married Robert Richey on March 23, 1937, in West Liberty. He preceded her in death. She later married Delbert Thomason, in 1994.
She attended the Linn Grove Country School and West Liberty High School. She later graduated from Dellor School of Cosmetology in Los Angeles, California, in 1936. While in California she did some extra work for Warner Bros. Studio and worked in the movie ?Sons of Guns? with Joe E. Brown. She had been employed throughout the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for several years, and also at ACT in Iowa City. She spent many years as a caregiver for her mother as well as for her aunt and her uncle.
Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Richey of Washington; one stepson, Robert and wife Thelma of Mesquite, Texas; one sister-in-law, Eloise Buchman of Sun City, Ariz.; four nephews; one niece; one niece-in-law; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Richey; her husband Delbert Thomason; one son, John Robert Richey; two brothers, Phineas Schooley, and LeRoy ?Bud? Schooley; two sisters-in-law, Grace Richey, and Ruth (Mrs. George) Gluth; two brothers-in-law, Herb Richey (husband of Florence), and Howard Richey (husband of Bernice); and one nephew.
