Margery E. Johnson

BRIGHTON ? Margery Elizabeth Johnson, 92, of Pleasant Plain, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, in Lone Tree Health Care Center in Lone Tree.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Darryl Carr officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday immediately preceding the funeral. Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 6963 Wapsi Avenue, S.E., Lone Tree, IA 52755.

Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 17, 1925, in West Chester, the daughter of William Ernest and Irma Margaret (Tansey) Van Sickle. She married Keith Daering on Jan. 1, 1945. He preceded her in death, on Nov. 4, 1963. She married Floyd Johnson on Sept. 7, 1968. He preceded her in death, on April 11, 2007.

She graduated from West Chester High School in 1943. She worked in Fairfield and Iowa City and actively on their farm. She enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona, beginning in 1992.

Surviving are three stepdaughters, Barbara Scarff and husband Michael of Palm Desert, California, Terri Bell and husband Tom of Lone Tree, and Karen Bremer and husband Greg of Independence, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy Gronseth of St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands , Keith, and Floyd; one stepson, Ray Johnson; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Bill, and Lyle Van Sickle.
