Maridee Woods, 88, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, January 27, 2023, at Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa, after declining in health.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Erin Kaye officiating. Services will be livestreamed on the Jones & Eden Facebook page. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Maridee was born September 29, 1934, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Doris Porter (Hulick) Orris. She attended school in Ainsworth and graduated from Ainsworth High School. Maridee was united in marriage to Theodore Russell Woods on September 1, 1954, in Ainsworth, Iowa.
Maridee lived all of her married life in Washington, Iowa, where she worked at the Washington Evening Journal and later worked at the Washington County Home. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School Teacher, served as the Youth Director, and served on various church committees. Maridee was also a member of the United Presbyterian Women (UPW). She enjoyed reading and cooking for her family.
She is survived by three sons, Russell Woods of Washington, Iowa, Jerry Woods of Mediapolis, Iowa, and Chris Woods and wife Carmen of Washington, Iowa; three grandchildren, Spencer Woods, Colton Woods and wife Kaytlynn; and McKenna Woods; and one great-grandson, August.
Maridee was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2015; and three brothers, Scott, Sam and Reid Orris.
