Marie Brenneman

WELLMAN ? Marie Kathryn (Stumpf) Brenneman, 91, of Wellman died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, in Parkview Manor in Wellman.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 2, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Wellman with the Rev. David Brownfield, Ph.D., officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice. Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brenneman was born April 13, 1925, near Kalona, the daughter of Frederick and Gertrude (Sommers) Stumpf. She married Harold Brenneman on April 2, 1945, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond.

She graduated from the Kalona High School in 1943. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary, Birthday Club, Garden Club, Iowa County Farm Bureau, Red Hats and ALC. She enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening and traveling.

Surviving are four children, Linda of Kalona, Gary Brenneman and wife Barb of Kalona, Doug Brenneman and Diane Zaerr of Wellman, and Debbie Martinson of Wellman; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Boyd and husband J.D. of Kalona; and one brother-in-law, Lynn Brenneman of Kalona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 2011; and one daughter-in-law, Vickie Brenneman.
