Marie Jobe
Myrtle Marie Jobe, 89, of New London and formerly of southern Illinois, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at New London Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Harmony Bible Church in Danville, with the Rev. Mark Jobe officiating. Visitation will be after noon on Friday, Jan. 19, at Elliott Chapel with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery of Mt. Union. A memorial has been established to her family?s mission work in Spain.
Mrs. Jobe was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Simpson, Ill., the daughter of Andrew and Bessie Norman Odom. She attended school in southern Illinois and Colorado, and married Ivy Jobe on Nov. 17, 1934, in Simpson, Ill., who preceded her in death on May 28, 1992. She was a homemaker, moving to New London after her husband?s death. She was a member of Harmony Bible Church in Danville and for many years previously a member of Evergreen Memorial Baptist Church of Hobart, Ind.
Survivors include two daughters, Nyla and Al Craig of New London and Minnie Jobe of Santander in Spain; two granddaughters; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, two brothers, and one granddaughter.
