Marie K. Pomberg

      Marie K. Pomberg, 89, of West Point Care Center in West Point.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. at the church today. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. with a Christian Vigil service at 7 p.m. A memorial has been established.

      Mrs. Pomberg was born on Oct. 4, 1913, in Houghton, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Bentler Mertens. She married Joseph H. Pomberg on Dec. 27, 1938, at St. John's Catholic Church, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1974. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Houghton area. She was retired from the Experian Company of Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

      Survivors include two sons, John A. and his wife Diane Pomberg, and Frank Pomberg, all of Houghton; two daughters, Phyllis Pomberg of Fort Madison, and Martha and her husband Dan Gillett of LaHarpe, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas; two brothers, Adrian and a brother in infancy, Leo; and four sisters, Christina, Anna, Elizabeth, and Sister Mary Pierre.
