Marilyn Grout

KALONA -- Marilyn Grout, 86, of Kalona died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at her home.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, at the Kalona United Methodist Church in Kalona with the Rev. Gerry Kahler officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Historical Village and the Kalona Public Library.

Mrs. Grout was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Kalona.

Surviving are six children, Kathy Grout of Iowa City, Sandy Gingerich and husband Jim of Wellman, Cherie Baker and husband Daryl of Muscatine, Ron Grout and wife Kathy of Grand Junction, Colorado, Rick Grout of Riverside, and Becky Ihrig and husband Bob of Riverside; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1987; and her parents, Lovell and Grace Strickler.
