Marilyn Mannetta Rees, 86, of Crawfordsville, Iowa passed away peacefully the morning of February 7, 2024 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
Marilyn was born on June 26, 1937 to Kenneth and Juanita (Carter) Schneider. She married Harold Rees on January 12, 1957 in Wapello, Iowa. She attended high school in Wapello, Iowa and graduated with her teaching degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught for 30 years at WACO elementary school.
Marilyn was a member of the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church, and served as the pianist for over 60 years. She enjoyed Etude Club and participated in many community cantatas and local musical groups throughout her life.
Always accompanied by Harold, Marilyn was an avid supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Few couples have spent more time enjoying ballgames, plays, recitals, concerts, and other various events together.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 67 years Harold, son Myron (Janet) Rees of Ainsworth, son Gary (Michelle) Rees of Crawfordsville, Loren (Deb) Rees of Boone; 8 grandchildren Molly, Joe, Adam, Maggie, Tyler, Ryan, Gwen, and Nicole; and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Merlin (Shirley) Schneider of Wapello and brother-in-law Eugene (Fran) Rees of Columbus Junction.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marlene Moore, and her brother-in-law Humes Moore.
The family will be present for a visitation held at Jones Funeral Home on Sunday, February 11 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church in rural Columbus Junction on Monday, February 12 at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Cambrian Cemetery following the funeral.
