MARILYN RAE HULTQUIST BOAL
San Antonio, Texas
Marilyn Rae Hultquist Boal, 90, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Colonial Gardens Alzheimer's Residence, San Antonio, Texas.
Marilyn was born on December 17, 1930, at the Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt Pleasant, IA, to Raymond and Marvoleen (Peterson) Hultquist. She married Robert Duayne Boal on June 8, 1952; he died June 25, 2004.
She is survived by their three children: Pam Boal Fosdick and John, San Antonio TX; Steve Boal and Carmine, Ankeny IA; and Kim Boal Granback and Gary, Oak Brook IL. Her grandchildren are Rob (Laura) Boal, Beth (Blake) Strobel, and Michael (Dani) Boal and great grandchildren, Sloane and Liv Strobel and Everett Boal. Other survivors are her brother, Keith Hultquist and Marilyn, Muscatine, IA; in-laws, Glenda and Malcolm Alvine, Olds IA, and Carol Boal, Iowa City, IA; plus many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband and other loved ones.
Marilyn was baptized, confirmed, and an active life-long member of Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Olds High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught elementary school at Crawfordsville, Yarmouth and Mediapolis. She was active in the Olds American Legion Auxiliary, Delta Kappa Gamma, Henry County Hospital Auxiliary, the Swedish Heritage Museum, and Tri-T. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, singing, her grandchildren, traveling, and genealogy.
After Alzheimer's disease claimed her good health, she moved to Sunnybrook at Mt. Pleasant Assisted Living in 2009. In May 2014, her family moved her to Colonial Gardens Alzheimer's Residence, San Antonio, TX, to be near her daughter. Special thanks to the care team for their compassionate and loving care and for serving as her family during the year of COVID-19.
A Celebration of Life service for Marilyn Boal will be on Friday, May 28, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at Swedesburg Lutheran Church, 1897 140th Street, P.O. Box 88, Swedesburg, IA, with Pastor Mark Youngquist officiating. The family is available for visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service, and after the service at the luncheon hosted by the family in the Parish Hall.
