Graveside memorial services for Marilyn Richards, 71, who passed away Dec. 2, 2021, will be held at 11 a.m. May 24, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

She was born in Ottumwa to Harold and Gwen Richards. Marilyn was a 1969 graduate of Ottumwa High School and then joined the Navy. She worked at Everco Industries and Ottumwa Regional Hospital. Marilyn enjoyed Taekwondo, was a member of the Ottumwa VFW, Legion and most recently the Elks of West Plains, Mo. She was a member of the Ottumwa Veterans Commission board, drove vets to their doctor's appointments in Iowa City and worked in the office. Being a breast cancer survivor before cancer took her life, she participated in the Susan G. Komen cancer for the cure. Marilyn loved to travel, gamble and play Bingo. She loved her pets and family, always helping others. She lived in Ottumwa most of her life, moving with family in Mount Pleasant in 2017 and then to West Plains, Mo., with her sister Linda.

Her sisters, Linda Mortland, Mary Schaub and Debbie VanDerSnick; and her brother, Ron Richards, survive her.

Her parents and half brother Bob Richards preceded her in death.
