Marion Doughty
WATERLOO ? Marion ?Arlo? Doughty, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, in Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
Family-directed memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum at 303 Jefferson Street, Waterloo, IA 50701. Kearns Funeral Service in Waterloo is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Doughty was born July 27, 1929, in Vincent, the son of James Marshall and Evelyn Mae (Helmick) Doughty. He married Donna Conlon. The couple later divorced. He then married Darlene Glendola Bridley.
He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1948. He worked for Firestone as an account manager for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a pilot for the Air National Guard in Waterloo. He was a longtime volunteer at the Dan Gable Museum, Covenant Medical Center, and American Red Cross; he won the Clara Barton Honor Award for Meritorious Volunteer for the Red Cross. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen.
Surviving are four sons, Jim C. Doughty, Tom F. Doughty and wife Peg, Mike G. Doughty and wife Jill, all of Washington, and Marshall A. Doughty and wife Bonnie of North Platte, Nebraska; one stepson, Scott Henriksen and wife Cheryl of Gordonsville, Minnesota; one stepdaughter, Vickey Smith and husband Mike of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one brother, Cleo Max Doughty of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene, on Jan. 15, 2013; one sister, Mary Lavonne (Knutson) Cannady; one stepson, Rick Henriksen; and one granddaughter.
