Marion Nelson

KALONA ? Marion Elaine Nelson, 87, of Kalona, formerly of Davenport, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, in Windmill Manor in Coralville.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah?s Witnesses, at 3801 Hillandale in Davenport. Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is assisting the family.

Mrs. Nelson was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Muscatine, the daughter of Harry and Vera (Lanker) Marolf. She married Raymond Nelson in 1947 in Davenport.

She graduated from Wilton High School and St. Luke?s School of Nursing in Davenport. She was employed as an LPN and worked at several nursing homes in the Davenport area. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah?s Witnesses in Washington.

Surviving are four children, Catherine Bartley and husband Richard of Kalona, Vicki Cutsinger and husband Rick of Franklin, Tennessee, Carol Shook and husband Randy of Davenport, and Jeff Nelson of Kalona; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Nelson of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger Marolf and wife Joan of Wilton, and Allen Marolf and wife Lila of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, in 1999; one son, Dennis Nelson; one brother, Ron Marolf; and one grandson.
