Marion ?Tink? Reschly
Marion Conrad ?Tink? Reschly, 93, of Wayland, formerly of Crawfordsville, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, in the Parkview Home in Wayland.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with the Rev. Nathan Luitjens and the Rev. Rachelle Luitjens officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Home and Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.
Mr. Reschly was born July 25, 1922, in Henry County, the son of Harry and Fanny (Conrad) Reschly. He married Opal M. Burkholder on March 28, 1948, at his father?s farm in Crawfordsville.
He graduated from Crawfordsville High School. He served in CPS in Fort Collins, Colorado, from January 1943 to May 1946. He spent most of his life as a finish carpenter, helping to build churches, schools and homes. He donated his time, sweat and craft to people in his community and abroad. He was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and volunteered at the Crowded Closet in Iowa City. He enjoyed woodworking and began making rocking horses for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, then for numerous benefits and auctions, and for his friends.
Surviving are his wife, Opal, of Crawfordsville; two children, Rodney Reschly of Elkhart, Indiana, and Cynthia Butcher and husband Steve of North Liberty; one son-in-law, Paul Byers of Goshen, Indiana; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Reschly and wife Wava, and Vernon Reschly; one sister-in-law, Marge Reschly; and one brother-in-law, Stanley Burkholder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carol Byers; one daughter-in-law, Rosie Reschly; one son-in-law, Tim Baker; three brothers, Willard Reschly and wife Leona, Orlin Reschly and wife Jean, and Ben Reschly; three sisters, Vera Buchanan and husband Tom, Kathryn Lehman and husband John, and Elsie Burkholder; and one sister-in-law, Mary Reschly.
