Marjorie Eileen Johnson
Marjorie Eileen Johnson, 78, of Edmond, Okla., and formerly of rural West Burlington, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Peace Lutheran Church of West Burlington with the Rev. Patti Webb officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Private family visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. The family will receive friends at a luncheon at the church following burial. Memorials have been established to the building fund of Peace Lutheran Church.
Elliott Chapel in New London is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson was born April 8, 1922, at her parents? home in rural New London, the daughter of Fred T. Brandmeyer and Viola Wright Brandmeyer. She married Raymond Johnson on June 4, 1941.
A 1939 graduate of Danville High School, she earned a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was a teacher for many years in Des Moines County, including Middletown, Zion School, and substituted in the Danville school system. She taught Sunday School and Bible School at Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Steven of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Gary of Iowa City; one daughter, Darla Johnson of Edmond, Okla.; two brothers, Alonzo Brandmeyer of Ankney and Donald Brandmeyer of Palo Alto; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one great-grandson.
