BRIGHTON ? Marjorie Mae Popejoy, 88, of Montrose, formerly of Pleasant Plain, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, in University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Jim Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. General memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Doug Popejoy at 7272 S. 400 E., Peru, IN 46970. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Popejoy was born Sept. 3, 1927, in rural Brighton, the daughter of Howard R. and Anneta M. (Weible) Reighard. She married Bernard Jack Popejoy on May 20, 1945, in Brighton.
She grew up in the Brighton area and graduated from Brighton High School in 1945. She lived in Pleasant Plain all her married life and enjoyed wintering in south Texas. She was a homemaker and drove a school bus for Pleasant Plain schools and Fairfield Community Schools from 1955 to 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Doug Popejoy and wife Nancy of Peru, Indiana, and Bob Popejoy and wife Christy of Montrose; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Hitchcock of Bettendorf; and one brother, Kenny Reighard and wife Barb of Hedrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Aug. 22, 1992; one great-grandchild; one sister, Maxine Moeller; and one brother, Gene Reighard.
