Mark P. Swartzendruber

    KALONA ? Mark P. Swartzendruber, 87, of Kalona, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church in rural Kalona with the Rev. Don Patterson and the Rev. Richard Swartzendruber officiating.  Burial will be in Lower Deer Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  Visitation will also be held from 7 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established for Crooked Creek Christian Camp.

    Mr. Swartzendruber was born March 2, 1922, in Johnson County, the son of Peter and Lydia (Swartzendruber) Swartzendruber.  He married Doris Marner at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church on June 1, 1947.
