Mark Thomas Finnegan was born January 10, 1969, in Iowa City, the son of Terrance and Patricia (Collins) Finnegan. Mark attended school at Parnell and graduated from Williamsburg Jr./Sr. High School then went on to Worldwide College of Auctioneer in Mason City and graduated as Colonel Mark Finnegan. He was united in marriage to Denise Ann Lee on May 5, 2001, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norway. Mark worked for Amana Farms for 10 years, then moved to Walker in 2002, where he owned and operated Walker Sale Barn. He enjoyed all sorts of sales equipment, animals, it didn’t matter, spending quality time with his family, watching his children’s activities, playing cards, watching movies, trail riding and team penning. Mark passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home in Walker at the age of 56 years old.
He is survived by his wife Denise of Walker; two children, Fallon Finnegan of Homestead and Samuel Finnegan of Walker; a brother, Mike (Kim) Finnegan of Parnell and two sisters, Juliann (Colin) Dorothy of Hamilton, IL and Joann Finnegan of Parnell. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Bernice and Leonard Collins.
A Funeral Mass Service will be10:30 am, Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Visitation was held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:30 pm at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
