Marquita Rae Harris

MUSCATINE ? Marquita Rae Harris, 72, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, in Pearl Valley Care Center in Muscatine.

Cremation rites have been facilitated by the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Muscatine. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31, at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harris was born Nov. 11, 1943, in Washington, the daughter of Raymond Allen and Dorthy Marie (Weinard) Stalder. She married Donald R. Harris on March 30, 1968. The couple later divorced.

She was a graduate of Washington High School. She worked at the Muscatine Journal for 15 years and made many friends during her time at Hardee?s. She loved to watch her son, Dion, race stock cars, and also enjoyed sewing and making potholders for her friends and family.

Surviving are one son, Dion Harris and companion Brenda Carter of Muscatine; two grandchildren; four brothers, Richard Stalder and wife Barbara of Washington, Ron Stalder of Washington, Jerry Stalder and wife Mary Anne of Trenton, Missouri, and Robert Stalder and wife Janette of Denton, Texas; and two very special friends.
