Marsha Anne Maschmann, 73, of Malcom, IA, died on Friday, May 24, 2024 at UnityPoint - Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A catholic mass was scheduled for 11:30 AM, Friday, May 31 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell with Fr. Scott Foley officiating. Pall bearers are Charlie Gibbons, Justin Montgomery, Partner Maschmann, Matt Maschmann, Molly Maschmann, and Nancy Maschmann; with honorary bearers including Jim Manatt, Darrel DeFrance, Roger Griffith, Diane Hawkins, and Julie Dressler. A luncheon will follow the service at St. Mary Catholic Church. The family received friends for a visitation from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 30 at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A private family burial will be held at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.

Marsha was born in Grinnell on October 12, 1950, the daughter of John Eugene, Sr. and Patricia Doud Montgomery. She attended Grinnell High School and graduated with the class of 1968. Following high school, she attended cosmetology school in Iowa City and later attended Upper Iowa University.

Marsha married Bob Maschmann on February 24, 1993 in Brooklyn, IA. The couple lived in Malcom, IA. Marsha dedicated her career to the accounting department at Grinnell College and previously worked at Miracle Recreation. Marsha shared in Bob's passion for auto racing, especially dirt late models, and they found a second family within the racing community. She also adored cats. Marsha was known for her giving, kind, and caring nature.

Marsha was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell, where she served as a greeter, gifts bearer, and volunteered at luncheons and coffee groups.

Marsha will be deeply missed by her surviving family: siblings, John "Jack" Montgomery, Jr. (Pam) of Grinnell, IA, Jo Ellen "Jo" Gibbons of Grinnell, IA, and Kyle Montgomery (Kelly) of Prairie Grove, AK; brothers-in-law, Mike Maschmann (Mary) of Brooklyn, IA, Kenny Maschmann of Montezuma, IA, and Bud Maschmann (Pam) of Malcom, IA; sister-in-law Linda Maschmann of Brooklyn, IA; uncles, Dick Doud, John Doud (Darla), and Ed Waller; aunt, Pauline Bunting; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Marsha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob Maschmann; parents, John and Patricia Montgomery; brother, Stephen Montgomery; brothers-in-law, Phil Gibbons, Jerry Maschmann, and Clark VerSteeg; sisters-in-law, Kathy VerSteeg, and Carol Maschmann; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Katie Maschmann; and nephew, Scott Maschmann.
