Martha S. Perrenoud

Martha S. Perrenoud, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Donnellson, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Henry County Health Center.

She was born Aug. 7, 1919 in Mt. Hamill, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Bell Newby. On Feb. 8, 1941, Martha was united in marriage to Keith Perrenoud in Winfield. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1970. She married Elmer Parsons on June 3, 1981 in Donnellson. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2005.

Martha graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Mt. Pleasant with the Class of 1937.

She had been employed at J.C. Penney in Mt. Pleasant and Ft. Madison for several years, at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids for five years, and at the Citizen's State Bank in Donnellson for ten years.

She was a member of the Embury Methodist Church in Donnellson. She was also a former member of the Eastern Star and TTT.

She loved playing bingo and cards and working in her garden. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Perrenoud and his wife Linda of Donnellson and Mike Perrenoud and his wife Betty of Houghton; one daughter, Diana Gerveler and her husband Hank of Argyle; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 31, at SunnyBrook Ashford Park Assisted Living of Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Barbara Krueger officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be held after the service, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Vigen Memorial Home of Keokuk.
