Marty Joy Barnes

Marty Joy Barnes passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 52 years.

Marty was born March 10, 1965 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dennis J. and Selena (Adams) Barnes. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1983. He worked at the Kalona Cheese Factory for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and the outdoors.

Marty is survived by his son, Jesse (Monica) Barnes and granddaughter Katelynn of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Selena Barnes of Wellman; three siblings: Del (Fritz) Frederick of North English, Mace Barnes of Olds and Holly (Jeff) Hamelton of Washington; three nieces; three nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; uncle, Dan Gascho of Wellman; and his beloved dog JoJo.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jackie, his father Dennis, grandparents, and an infant brother.
