Marty ?One-Man? Hammen
KEOTA ? Marty ?One-Man? Hammen, 39, of rural Wellman, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at his home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, at Holy Trinity Parish ? St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemeteries ? St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday at the church, with visitation until 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home in Keota is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Hammen was born March 4, 1976, in Iowa City, the son of Marvin and Betty (Smith) Hammen. He married Simone Sharp on Sept. 30, 2005. The couple later divorced.
He graduated from Keota High School in 1994. He owned and operated One-Man Electric and also worked for JAG Electric and Waterhouse Construction. He was a first responder and served on the volunteer fire department in Wellman. He enjoyed spending time with his children and family, being outdoors, cooking, tinkering and inventing.
Surviving are one daughter, Harley Hammen of Iowa City; four stepchildren, Natasha Allison-Schuppert and husband Austin of Iowa City, Rebecca Hedges and husband Travis of Coralville, Sorcha, and Shawn Sharp of Iowa City; his father, Marvin Hammen and Maureen Robertson of Keota; two sisters, Angie Adrian and husband Rick of Iowa City, and Tami Clements and husband Todd of Iowa City; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bo; his mother, Betty Hammen; and his grandparents, Leonard and Martha Hammen, and Andy and Mary Smith.
