Marvin D. Crile, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Prestige Care Center in Fairfield, Iowa, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the West Chester Heritage Association and can be sent to the family at 1035 Ash Avenue, Wayland, IA 52654. Marvin was born November 2, 1934, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Clyde H. and Helen (Loeffler) Crile. He graduated from West Chester High School in 1954. Marvin was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Coon on May 28, 1954.
Marvin was a life resident of Washington County. He was a farmer and was a truck driver for Elmer Kiene. Marvin was a school bus driver for the Washington Community School District for many years. He enjoyed taking kids to their various events. Marvin served in the National Guard for two years. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church where he served as Financial Treasurer, was the Summer Bible School Superintendent and was a youth leader. Marvin coached the Jaycees softball team for three years. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and going to his families’ ball games. He and Phyllis enjoyed watching Washington Demon Basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Crile of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Penny (Rick) Miller of Washington, Iowa; son, Mark (Jeri) Crile of Washington, Iowa; son, Matt Crile of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Peg (Tim) Arbogast of Wayland, Iowa; five grandchildren, Casey (Jeff) Martin, Jerica Cody Miller, Andy (Anne) Crile, Kaitie (Marshall) Kading and Christopher Brogden; and six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Kylin, Natalee, Kyper and Hayes. He is also survived by sister, Connie Bauer and husband Bob Crane of Washington, Iowa; sister, Linda Boston of Washington, Iowa; brother, Tonnie Crile and wife Jeana of Washington, Iowa; and family friend, Pat Dowis of Colorado; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Nancy Crile; brother, Jimmie Crile; and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Bauer and Martin Boston.
