Marvin W. Bishop
Marvin W. Bishop, 94, of Tyler, Texas, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Tyler.
Mr. Bishop was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Washington County, the son of Warren L. Bishop and Mamie (White) Bishop. He had lived in Dallas, Texas, for more than 60 years, and then in Tyler, Texas, for seven years. He served in the 113th Cavalry unit of Iowa as a horse soldier, and then in the tanks when that unit was converted to an armored division. He was wounded in Normandy but continued to serve the Army until the end of World War II. He moved to Dallas, Texas, and worked as a railroad clerk. He was a faithful member of the Tuesday Morning Men?s Bible Study at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
