Mary A. Smith August 5, 1928 - December 16, 2003

      Mary Antoinette Smith, 75, of Burlington, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Hass Funeral Home in Burlington, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established.

      Survivors include six sons, Donald Smith and Daniel Smith, both of Burlington, David Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Duane Smith of Sperry, Doug Smith of Mediapolis and Dennis Smith of Carman, Ill.; four daughters, Donna Ballard, Dionne Burns and Deb Martin, all of Amarillo, and Deana Newby of Denmark; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Kibling of Charlotte, N.C.; and two sisters, Loretta Mellinger of Washington and Virginia Overberg of West Point.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a granddaughter, two sisters and three brothers.
