Mary "Irene" Becker, 90 passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 28, 2019, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.

Mrs. Becker was born October 28, 1928, in Newman Grove, Nebraska. The daughter of John Leonard and Mary (Larson) Flynn. She graduated from Washington High School in 1948.On May 25, 1957 she married Robert Eugene Becker at St. James Catholic Church. Irene was a homemaker and farmed with Bob for 40 years between Wellman and Keota. In 1999 Bob and Irene moved to Kalona.

Irene is survived by three daughters: Jean (Brian) Ripley of Webster City, IA; Julie (Tom) Schnerre of East Moline, IL; and Debra (Roger) Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA; a son Douglas (Lauri) Becker of Marion, IA; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A sister Evonne Merz of Harper, IA; two brothers: Michael (Nancy) Flynn of Scotch Grove, IA and David (Christine) Flynn of Waxhaw, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2008, two sisters: Thelma Flynn and Patricia Lechner.
