Mary Ellen Knox, 84, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Donnellson, died Saturday, Nov. 10, in San Jose.
Visitation will be held from 9 to10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, where the rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. The memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington with Father Apo T. Mpanda as celebrant. Burial will be in the String-Prairie Cemetery near Donnellson.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Contributions may be left at the church Saturday or mailed to the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory P.O. Box 56, Donnellson, IA 52625.
Mary was born Feb. 6, 1923 in Belfast, Iowa, the daughter of Timothy and Margaret Burke Driscoll. In 1945, she married Calvin Lowenberg; following his death, she married Carl Knox in 1966.
She was a lifetime member of String-Prairie and St. Boniface Catholic Churches. She was a member of the Donnellson American Legion Auxiliary. Mary was a bookkeeper at the Farm Service Elevator in Donnellson.
She is survived by a son, Tim Lowenberg and his wife Mary of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters: Judy Aitken and her husband John of Los Gatos, Calif., Jan Casey and her husband Jim of Mokelumne Hill, Calif.; two stepchildren: John Knox and his wife Barb of Ft. Madison and Wilma Flander and her husband Don of What Cheer; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husbands, brother John Driscoll, sisters Margaret Hayes, Colleen Lowenberg, Pat Hirschler, Agnes Roan and granddaughter Lisa Knox preceded her in death.
