Mary E. Longstreth, 68, of 507 E. Monroe, Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at her home of an apparent heart attack.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Dr. Edward R. Peterson officiating. Interment will be held in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday, Feb. 21 at Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday evening. A memorial has been established to the Henry County Heart Fund.

Mrs. Longstreth was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Muscatine, the daughter of Francis C. and Florence E. Figgins Law. She married Clark Miller, Jr. on March 11, 1948, in Muscatine. On Nov. 1, 1952, she married Neale E. Longstreth in Muscatine. She attended schools in Muscatine and worked at the Chocolate Shop in Muscatine for several years. A homemaker, she worked for 6 1/2 years at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant before retiring because of her health. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Survivors include her husband of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Penny Burns of rural Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Michael L. Miller of Mt. Pleasant and Keith E. Miller of Ft. Madison; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, Floyd Ricketts; and one brother, Clifford Law.
