Mary J. McCall, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the United Presbyterian Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the United Presbyterian Church with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Mary was born July 20, 1930, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Claud and Ora (Wolf) Rhodebeck. She attended Young America Country School and graduated from Washington High School in 1948. Mary was united in marriage to Richard McCall on August 16, 1953.
Mary worked as a bookkeeper at the Iowa Continental Telephone Company for five years. Following her marriage, she assisted her husband on the family farm operation and helped raise four children. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, was a part of the church sewing circle, served on the finance committee and was a Church Deacon. Mary was a Cub Scout Leader for many years and served on the Washington County Hospital Board of Trustees for 12 years. Mary was a volunteer at the Washington County Hospital for 51 years. She enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Sports Fan, having season tickets for Iowa Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball and Volleyball.
She is survived by her husband Richard McCall of Washington; her daughter, Amy (Carl) Snook of Davenport, Iowa; son, Andrew (Cyndy) McCall of West Chester, Iowa; daughter, Carrie (Ted) Fidder of Broomfield, Colorado; son, Carl (Kelly) McCall of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Holly McCall; and two sisters, Norma Beauchamp and Helen Kellogg Gerling.
