Mary Jane Davidson entered this life on June 3, 1933, in Brighton, IA, the daughter of Myrl and Opal DeWolf Lemley. She was a 1952 graduate of West Chester High School and quickly entered the workforce at Parcell’s Grocery Store in Fairfield. On New Years Eve 1954 she married the love of her life, Max Davidson. This was the first chapter in a story that lasted 63 years. The two began their life together in Fairfield, IA and became the proud parents of four children: Angie, Kathy, Randy, and Juanita. Mary Jane was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker and loved every minute of it. In 1970 the family moved to rural Salina which she would call home until her health would no longer allow.
Mary Jane enjoyed caring for her large garden and canning the fruits of her labor. She loved spending time outdoors caring for flowers, listening to the birds, and playing with her animals. She was a gifted baker and was known countywide for her decorated sugar cookies and spritz cookies. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family and her many friends.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max (2017), and her sister, Shirley Heisel.
Left to share her story are her children; Angie (Dave) Stull of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy (Ira) Van Curen of Birmingham, IA, Randy Davidson of Waterloo, IA, and Juanita (Rob) Martin of Eldon, IA; eight grandchildren, Carla (Scott) Shepherd, Leslie (Levi) Hollo, Janie (Tommy) Gayagoy, Jeremy (Amanda) Pohren, Krystle (Levi) Evans, Shari (Brian) Wood, Brandyn Martin, and Ashlyn (Tanner) Chance; twenty great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
