Mary Jane Kurtz

WASHINGTON - Mary Jane Kurtz, age 92, of Washington died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Mass of Resurrection services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Paul Appel officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Thursday at the Jones-Eden Funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening with a Prayer Service at 7:30. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A memorial has been established to St. James Church and M.L. McCreedy Home. Mary Jane was born February 24, 1916 in Wellman, Iowa the daughter of Frank E. and Bessie (Chalupa) Brown. She graduated from Wellman High School. On February 3, 1940 Mary Jane was united in marriage to John N. Kurtz in Washington, Iowa. Mary Jane was a life long resident of Washington County.
