Mary Jean DeWitt, 76, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the University of

Iowa Hospital following a short illness.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, at

the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. The family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Mary's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Mary was born March 10, 1945, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Layman and Marjorie Marie (Baughman) Coble. She graduated from Tri County High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to Dennis DeWitt in 1976 in Washington, Iowa. They were later separated but remained friends.

Mary moved to Washington in 1967. She worked for the McCleery Cummings Company, Head Start, and provided childcare services in her home. In 1991, she began working at the Washington County Hospital where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement. Mary enjoyed family get togethers, visiting with friends and putting puzzles together.

She is survived by her son, Nathan DeWitt of Washington, Iowa; and one sister, Connie Baumert and husband Larry of Marion, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Geraldine Teschner, and her, husband Art.
