Mary Jeanne Schnicker

      Mary Jeanne Schnicker, 82, of Burlington, and formerly of New London, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      A graveside service will be at 3 p.m.. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Burge Cemetery in New London, with the Rev. Shirley Bliven officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family present to receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m.. Memorials have been established to the H. J. Nugen Library of New London and the First Christian Church of Burlington.

      Mrs. Schnicker was born March 10, 1920 in Burlington, the daughter of John C. and Lulu Cain Fox. She was a graduate of Burlington High School, and attended business school for one year. She married Roy E. Schnicker on April 3, 1943 in Burlington. He died Aug. 18, 2002. She was a secretary for Lago Marcino-Grupe Co. for more than 6 years before serving as a secretary to the president of Iowa Wesleyan College for 22 years. She was of the Protestant faith, and a former member of the King's Daughters.

      Survivors include two sons, Dr. Steven C. Schnicker of Victoria, Texas and Larry E. Schnicker of Dublin, Calif.; a daughter, Roxanne Schnicker of Burlington; a brother John C. Fox, Jr. of Burlington; a sister, Helen Leffler of Burlington; ten grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
