Mary JoAnn Jones, 80, of Columbus Junction, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. Interment will be held at the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation for Mary will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for Hospice of Washington County. Mary was born April 1, 1942 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence F. and Frieda M. (Mullinnix) Hora. She graduated from Conesville High School. Mary was united in marriage to Ray J. Jones on March 31, 1962, in Lone Tree, Iowa.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Columbus Junction. She worked as a cook at various restaurants for 25 years which included the Bryn Mar, Night Hawk, Mary’s Country House and Uncle Bills. She was a farmer’s wife and worked for Rath Packing Company from 1980-1982. Mary enjoyed cooking, playing cards and dominos and diamond painting. She loved to spend time with her family and her many friends.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Brian (Sheila) Jones of Columbus Junction; son, Craig (Holly) Jones of Washington; and daughter, Tina (Dave) Jakubowsky of Columbus Junction; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Monie Hora of Wilton; and brother-in-law, Grant Stalkfleet of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; son, Jeffrey; brothers, Joe, Leo (Mildred) and Frank (Patricia) Hora; and sisters, Marjorie Charlier, Rita Stalkfleet and Shirley (Merle) Walker.
