Mary L. Barton

KALONA ? Mary Louise Barton, 61, of San Bernardino, California, formerly of Wellman, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at her home after battling cancer.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Community Bible Church in San Bernardino, California. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is assisting the family.

Mrs. Barton was born Feb. 19, 1954, in Iowa City, the daughter of Gene and Ruth (Rich) Eash of Wellman. She married Robert Barton in 1984.

She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1976 with a bachelor?s degree in nursing. After graduation she passed the California nursing boards and joined Campus Crusade for Christ. She was a missionary nurse at the Mbabane Clinic in Swaziland, Africa. She and her husband also served in Kenya, Africa, returning to California in 1986. She was a homemaker and home schooled the couple?s two daughters, Megan, born in 1990, and Sara, born in 1992.

Surviving are her parents; her husband of 31 years, Robert Barton of San Bernardino, California; two daughters, Megan Marie Barton of Pomona, California, and Sara Joanne Barton of San Bernardino, California; two brothers, Glen Eash and wife Donna of Durham, North Carolina, and Duane Eash and wife Jean of Mount Vernon; and one nephew.
